A fine painting of La Place de la Contrescarpe in Paris by listed Oklahoma artist Stuart Grayson Garrett Jr. The painting is in excellent condition and shows no signs of repairs or in-painting. The painting is signed and inscribed, lower right, "S. G. Garrett' 53", Place Contrescarpe". The reverse bears a label from the famed Salmagundi Club of New York stating that the painting was exhibited in the 1954 Salmagundi Club Thumb-Box Exhibition.

La Place de la Contrescarpe is one of the most famous squares in Paris and was the legendary hangout and meeting place for a Who's Who of the most important writers and artists that worked in Paris.
