A Beautiful North East impressionist landscape painting. The frame measures, 14 3/4' X 17 5/8" overall. The painting is in excellent condition and shows no signs of in-painting, over-painting or other restorations. The painting has been recently cleaned and is newly framed and ready to hang and enjoy. The painting is not dated but appears, based on the style and appearance of the stretchers and canvas, to date from the first quarter of the twentieth century.

Harold Dunbar, painter, teacher, writer and illustrator, known for portraits, landscapes, street scenes, still-lifes, harbors and coastal scenes, studied with Ernest Lee Major and Joseph De Camp at the Massachusetts School of Art and with Edmund C. Tarbell at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the Academy Colarossi in Paris. He exhibited in many important art shows and his works are in many important collections. He is listed in many of the important artist biographical references.

This work, with its bright clean clear color palette and rich vibrant brushwork, reflects the high quality of Impressionist painting typical of the best American Impressionists and would be a worthy addition to any fine collection of American paintings.
